An energetic crew of Pairwise team members joined forces with the Foodbank of Central and Eastern North Carolina last week for a “day of service” in the run up to the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health on September 28th —the first conference of its kind in over 50 years.
In an effort to engage organizations like Pairwise that are committed to advancing access to nutritious food for all, the White House Conference organizers are encouraging partners to engage in a “day of service” around the occasion of the September conference.
Pairwise is committed to supporting the local food banks where we work, including the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, where our team helped distribute healthy food including sweet potatoes, corn, watermelon, citrus, apples, leafy greens, and green vegetables, and the Food Bank of Monterrey County in Salinas, CA, where many of our consumer products under the Conscious™ Foods brand are grown.
“This was a great opportunity for us to continue to strengthen our partnership with our local foodbank while participating in the national conversation around food and nutrition,” said Sharon Guffy, a Protein Scientist at Pairwise who chairs our Volunteerism Committee. In a statement submitted last July to the White House Conference organizers, Pairwise championed the important role that technology can play in making healthy fruits and vegetables more available by making them more convenient, longer lasting, and better tasting.
Currently, a mere 3% of innovation in the supermarket occurs in produce, while the vast majority of new products are highly processed foods. Pairwise aims to change that through consumer brand, Conscious™ Foods.
Health-focused food and agriculture companies like Pairwise play an important role in research and development in produce and fresh whole foods that center consumer preferences such as taste and convenience.
